A JOINT TRAINING CAMP BETWEEN MALAYSIA, KOREA AND INDONESIA

The Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) has organized and been invited for many training camps with other countries mostly in Asia and Europe in the recent years. Among the important ones were the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between Malaysia and Korea in 2014 and Malaysia and Indonesia in 2015 respectively.

This year, BAM has once again taken the initiative to invite the Korean team to join the training camp in Malaysia. Back in 2014, the national juniors enjoyed a training stint in Korea while Malaysia played host last year in Kuala Lumpur. Adding to that, the invitation has also been extended to Indonesia as it will be a joint training camp between the three countries.

BAM’s technical director, Morten Frost felt that it was a good idea to organize such camps.

“Although we have had the Korean team joining us before, inviting the Indonesian team was first time since the signing of the MoU with Indonesia Badminton Association (PBSI) in March 2015. Hence, we decided to get the ball rolling as Malaysia will be the first among the three countries to organize it for this year”, said Morten who will also be visiting the training camp at Alor Setar.

Through this MoU, the national juniors have experienced various training programs and also gained more knowledge as they are given the opportunity to train under foreign coaches.

The training camp will be held from 20 – 29 April at KBA Hall in Alor Setar, Kedah. In order to maximize the effort between all parties and our juniors, BAM has decided to send its potential twelve juniors players.
