It was a day of despair for the national team when all players crashed out in the first and second round of the Jeonju Victor Korea Masters Grand Prix gold yesterday. Except for independent shuttler, Zulfadli Zukifli, the others failed to advance to the third round.
Iskandar who recently won the Swiss International Challenge also faltered in the second round to Yosei Yamaguchi of Japan. He won the first set game very easily, 21/8 but unfortunately, he could not continue the momentum in the second game and deciding game losing the match, 19/21, 16/21. Soo Tech Zhi and Goh Soon Huat were also in the same boat losing to opponents from Indonesia and Poland respectively.
The mens’ doubles pair of Ow Yao Han/ Chooi Kah Ming, Tan Kian Meng/ Teo Ee Yi, Low Juan Shen/ Ong Yew Sin and the womens’ singles players were all first round casualties. The players will now have to prove themselves at the Maybank Malaysia International Challenge being held in Alor Setar next week.
