HARD LUCK FOR THINAAH/ MEI XING AT UNDER-19 MEET IN KOREA

They were just two points away from clinching an international junior title but unfortunately, the luck was on their opponent’s side. M. Thinaah/ Teoh Mei Xing who were in action yesterday during the finals of the Yonex Korea Junior Open Badminton Championships 2015 were so close of bringing back a gold for Malaysia.

The girls who were competing in the Under-19 category could not get the better of Baek Seung Hee/ Kim Ga Eun, losing the match in a very narrow gap. It is common for badminton players to have a 20-20 dues in a game, but not in all three games. However, in yesterday’s match, all three games ended in dues and moreover, the first two games were dragged to 27-25 with Thinaah/ Mei Xing winning the first and losing the second one. The final games saw the Koreans having the upper hand during the 20-20 tie and eventually winning 22-20.

Although they lost, credit goes to these girls for achieving this feat as this is only their second tournament together. In addition, Thinaah is a singles player while Mie Xing is a doubles player and yet, they have proven that their combination is able to produce results in international tournaments. Nevertheless, the girls fought hard and gave their best, but the lucky charm was just not on their side.
