INDONESIA MASTERS 2018: GOH SOON HUAT-SHEVON LAI HALTED IN THE SEMI-FINALS

World No 13 Goh Soon Huat-Shevon Jemie Lai’s fall short in the semi-finals by sixth seeds, Zhang Siwei-Huang Yaqiong of China 14-21 18-21 at the Istora Senayan Indoor Stadium in Jakarta on Saturday.

The national No 2 pair however, showed maturity by playing well all week claiming the scalp of China’s world No 4 Wang Yilyu-Huang Dongping in the first round.

It was also their second consecutive last four stage of the season after Malaysia Masters ousting the higher ranked compatriots Tan Kian Meng-Lai Pei Jing in the quarter-finals.

Malaysia’s leading men’s doubles pair Goh V Shem-Tan Wee Kiong on the other hand went down fighting 18-21 22-20 12-21 to familiar foe, world champions Liu Cheng-Zhang Nan in the last eight.

Chooi Kah Ming-Low Juan Shen and Goh Sze Fei-Nur Izzuddin Rumsani’s challenges ended in the second round and first round respectively.

Vivian Hoo-Woon Khe Wei meanwhile lost to Malaysia Masters champions, Kamilla Juhl-Christinna Pedersen in the opening round while 17-year-old wonderkid, Goh Jin Wei was defeated by PV Sindhu in the second round.
