Malaysia’s hope to qualify for the semi-finals of the Yonex Sunrise Indonesia Masters Grand Prix Gold were crushed after the defeat of the players in the quarter-finals today. Iskandar was the first to be shown the exit after losing to Wisnu Yuli Prasetyo of Indonesia in two games. According to Johor born player, he just could not perform today.
“I could have entered the semi-finals if I had not made too many unforced errors. I started losing my confidence and that caused me a blow. I felt that I wasted an opportunity of making it to the last four. Anyhow, I know that I have to work harder and be more consistent,” said the dejected Iskandar after his match today.
Soo Teck Zhi was another casualty when he lost tamely to top seed, K. Srikanth of India, 21/10, 21/5. In the womens’ doubles, Vivian hoo/ Woon Khe Wei was only able to drag their opponents to a rubber game but a win was too far for the duo to achieve. However, they were playing against 2008 Olympic gold medalist, Yu Yang and her partner Tang Yuanting who has also won the All England title. Hence, it is still a good outing for them learning from their mistakes against stronger opponents.
Lai Pei Jing/ Chow Mei Kuan were also beaten by Komala Devi/ Vita Marissa of Indonesia. Nevertheless, the girls have given some assurance as the next upcoming stars after doing well in two tournaments although they are a new pair that was just formed a month ago.
