The Yonex Dutch Open Grand Prix will have three players, Iskandar Zulkarnain, Goh Soon Huat and Soo Teck Zhi from the Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) in action today. Iskandar will open his campaign against Anand Pawar of India and bearing any upsets, he faces compatriot, Zulfadli Zulkifli in the third round. Iskandar has played once against the Indian with the latter losing to him in two games during the India Grand Prix Gold last year.
The 24 year-old has been performing well this year securing two international titles, the recent one being the Varcolor Polish Interntional Series three weeks ago. Moreover, he was ranked 93 in the world in August and has made a big leap to 68 in this month’s ranking thanks to his consistent performance especially in the last few months.
Soo Teck Zhi will be up against Lucas Corvee of France in the first round today while Goh Soon Huat will face Indonesian, Adi Pratama. If Teck Zhi overcomes his French opponent, he will most probably meet a higher ranked player Pablo Abian of Spain. Teck Zhi, the 2013 Asian Junior champion is currently ranked 80 in the world and a good finish here will see him moving up in his ranking.
