It was another day to celebrate for Iskandar Zulkarnain after he clinched his third international title at the Swiss International Challenge. He overcame Ville Lang of Finland in the finals, winning the match in three games, 21/19, 16/21, 21/11. Iskandar also managed to avenge his defeat to Lucas Corvee of France in the second round after the latter became a stumbling block for him in the last-16 stage of the Yonex Belgian Open one month ago.
Iskandar has been displaying an amazing performance especially in the second half of the year defeating higher ranked players like Sho Sasaki and Vladimir Malkov. Besides that, he also showed his consistency winning three titles out of the six tournaments he has competed from July till now. He won the OUE Singapore International Series in August, Varcolor Polish International Series in September and the Swiss International Series yesterday.
Now, it is time for the Johor born player to prove himself in bigger competitions such as the Grand Prix and Grand Prix Gold tournaments. There was also good news for former nationals, Koo Kien Keat/ Tan Boon Heong winning their fourth title of the year. They have also enjoyed a big jump in their world ranking being 212 back in May and currently ranked 27 just after five months.
