In a repeat of the 2016 Rio Olympic Games final, Chan Peng Soon-Goh Liu Ying’s fine form was halted by World No. 3 Indonesian pair, Tontowi Ahmad-Liliyana Natsir 17-21 8-21 in the Indonesia Open final in Jakarta yesterday.
Peng Soon-Liu Ying however, can hold their heads up high as they are the country’s first pair to reach the Indonesia Open final since 1982.
National mixed doubles coach, Chin Ee Hui was full of praise of the performances of her charges who have bounced back from their Malaysia Open disappointment a week earlier.
“After Malaysia Open, we had only a few days to prepare so I worked more on their rotation and combination aspects during training. I’m pleased with their performances as I know they have given their best. We’ll now be focusing on our preparations for the upcoming World Championships.”
For the record, the World No. 15 pair have won two titles (Thailand Masters and US Open).
