Chan Peng Soon/ Goh Liu Ying kept the Malaysian flag flying after the pair made it to the finals of the Mexico City Grand Prix defeating their opponents from Singapore Danny Bawa Chrisnanta/ Yu Yan Vanessa Neo, 21/14, 21/13. The duo who lost in the quarter-finals last week during the K&D Graphics Yonex Grand Prix made amends to their defeat and they face Solgyu Choi/ Eom Hye Won whom they lost last week in California.
They have so far won two in international title and are currently ranked 17 in the world rankings. Liu Ying who only made a comeback this year after recovering from a knee surgery has surely shown improvement and winning in Mexico will not only have a good ending for the year 2015, it will also motivate them before they began their next tournament, the Malaysian Masters Grand Prix Gold in a month from now.
Two others pairs, Goh V Shem/ Tan Wee Kiong and Vivian Hoo/ Woon Khe Wei however bowed out in the semi-finals. V Shem/ Wee Kiong who were last week’s champion in California failed to get the better of Bodin Issara/ Nipitphon Puangpuapech of Thailand in a close match, 19/21, 18/21 while Vivian/ Khe Wei were beaten by Japanese opponents, Shizuka Matsuo/ Mami Naito, 16/21, 21/23.
