Despite losing in the second round of the Korea Open this afternoon, Wee Kiong/ V Shem put up a good show against Hendra Setiawan/ Mohammad Ahsan of Indonesia before bowing out, 21/19, 21/19 to the reigning world champions. However, on the positive side, based on the results against higher ranked players, Wee Kiong/ V Shem’s standard are more a less the same but they may have to work on their finishing to secure a win.

Currently ranked 13 in the world, they were the quarter-finalist at the Japan Open last week and another similar results in Korea would have boosted their confidence level as well as improve in their world rankings. But they surely have given their best and the only way to come back stronger is for them to strengthen their partnership and focus on the upcoming tournaments next month.

With the defeat of Wee Kiong/ V Shem, it now left to former national players, Koo Kien Kiat/ Tan Boon Heong who checked into the quarter-finals of the Korea Open. The 2007 All England champions proved that they were still going strong when they defeated world number 6, Chai Biao/ Hong Wei in straight games to check into the quarter-finals. Their next opponent will be Fu Hai Feng/ Zhang Nan of China.
