SHAH ALAM: South Korea's Kim Gi Jung and Kim Sa Rang were crowned the Celcom Axiata Malaysia Open champions when they extended their giant-killing spree into the men's doubles final today.

After sensationally gunning down third-seeds, Fu Haifeng-Zhang Nan (quarterfinals) and world No.1 pair, Lee Yong Dae-Yoo Yeon Seong (semifinals), Gi Jung-Sa Rang were undoubtedly fired up in today's final.

Riding on their hot streak, the fifth-seeded Gi Jung-Sa Rang defeated their Chinese oponents, Chai Biao-Hong Wei, the fourth seeds here, 21-19, 21-15 to claim the Malaysia Open title.

Earlier in the women's doubles, Tang Yuanting-Yu Yang gave the Chinese camp a great start when they won the first final of the day. The fifth seeded pair started very strongly and forced their oppoents, South Korea's Jung Kyung Eun-Shin Seung Chan, back and went to cruise to a 21-11 win.

Kyung Eun-Seung Chan put up a solid fight in the second set but were simply unable to match to Chinese, who were the India Open winners in 2014, and went down 21-17.

“This is the first time we played this South Korean pair (Kyung Eun – Seung Chan). There were some diifficulties with the wind but we adjusted to it well,” said Yuanting.“
